Christmas in Fort William

5 Day Itinerary

• Day 1:

  Local departure by coach, then on to Fort William and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a mulled wine with a mince pie on arrival to get us into the Christmas spirit.

• Day 2: Christmas Eve in Fort Augustus and Loch Ness

  Today we visit Fort Augustus at the south-west end of Loch Ness. We drive via Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial, a monument dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces in WWII. We then continue to Fort Augustus which offers spectacular views down Loch Ness. There are many cruises which depart from here, perfect for hunting down the famous Nessie! The Caledonian Canal also runs here, and there is an impressive flights of eight locks known as Neptune’s Staircase.

• Day 3: Christmas Day at leisure

  Merry Christmas! Relax in Fort William, open some presents, tuck into a traditional turkey dinner, and enjoy the festive atmosphere in the hotel with your fellow travellers.

• Day 4: Boxing Day in Kinlochleven

  This morning we take a trip to Kinlochleven, at the eastern end of Loch Leven and at the foot of the beautiful mountains known as the Mamores. The town was the site of an aluminium smelter which at one time was the largest in Europe, the tale of which can be heard in The Aluminium Story. We return passing the beautiful Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe which offer superb scenery. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.

• Day 5:

  We depart the hotel this morning, filled with magical Christmas memories, and return home.
