Great Western Hotel, Oban - Self-Drive

The Great Western Hotel is a striking building dating back to the 19th century, and is ideally placed on Oban’s esplanade, making the perfect base for exploring. You can enjoy pleasant strolls down to the harbour, as well as panoramic views from the large windows in the bar and lounge areas. Enjoy history, coastal charm and a warm Scottish welcome!

4 Day Itinerary

  • Day 1: Travel to Your Hotel

    Make your own way to your hotel, where you will enjoy a comfortable three-night stay.

    Included meals: Dinner

  • Days 2 & 3: Oban

    Spend two days independently exploring the area in and around Oban.

    Surrounded by miles of coastline, Oban town and port features important historical intrigue with no less than five castles nearby, three of which were the seat of the Clan MacDougall of Lorne. From Oban, you can set sail and take a tour of the islands of Mull, Iona and Staffa.

    Highlights include the Oban War & Peace Museum, partially-ruined Dunstaffnage Castle, and Oban Distillery, where you can explore the history of whisky and learn exactly how it’s made.

    Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

  • Day 4: Return Home

    After breakfast, check out of your hotel and make your way home.

Selected rooms at the hotel are dog-friendly. There is a maximum of 2 dogs per room at a charge of £12 per night, and this should be added to your booking before travel. 
Dogs are not permitted to join you in the restaurant, bar or public areas of the hotel. 
If you have an allergy to dogs, please do not worry as many of the hotel bedrooms are dog-free, but do advise us at the time of booking if you have a severe allergy.
