ABOUT THE TOUR
The Cumbrian town of Kendal is a bustling shopping centre with good restaurants and attractions, and will be forever linked with its famous mint cake. It makes for a great base for exploring the nearby Lake District, and towns such as Windermere, Keswick and Grasmere are all must-see destinations.
TOUR INCLUDES
Day 1:
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then on to the County Hotel, Kendal for four nights.

Day 2: Keswick and Grasmere
Visit the market town of Keswick, on the shores of beautiful Derwentwater where the main square is flanked by independent shops, quaint cafes and art galleries.
We also call at pretty Grasmere, in the very heart of the Lake District, home to the tiny Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere Gingerbread Shop.

Day 3: Day at leisure or Yorkshire Dales
Explore Kendal at your leisure, or perhaps join our optional excursion to the Yorkshire Dales.
We’ll venture to pretty Sedbergh, hugging a lovely spot between the Howgill Fells and the Dales, and then continue onto Hawes, home to the famous Wensleydale Cheese.

Day 4: Windermere and Ambleside
Our second trip into the Lakes takes us to its most famous town and lake, Windermere. Whilst not technically a lake, it is the largest body of water in England and is truly magnificent.
The lakeside town is split into two, with Windermere Town around 1.5 miles from the lake at the top of a steep hill, and Bowness-on-Windermere sitting on the eastern shore. We also call at Ambleside at the head of the lake.

You will stay for four nights at the 3-star County Hotel in Kendal.
Set in a former coaching inn, the County House is located in the centre of Kendal. This hotel had renovation work completed in 2019, giving it a contemporary look and feel whilst retaining the period features of this Grade II listed building. The hotel has a bar and restaurant that serves traditional meals. All rooms feature a T.V. and tea and coffee making facilities.
