ABOUT THE TOUR
A royal tour visiting the part of Scotland so loved by the late Queen Mother, from our base in Pitlochry near the majestic Cairngorms. From the historic Glamis Castle, to the beautiful Queen's View panorama, much loved by Queen Victoria, to Balmoral Castle, residence of the Royal Family, explore why the heartland of Scotland has been home to royalty for hundreds of years.
TOUR INCLUDES
Day 1:
Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to Pitlochry for seven nights.
Included meals: Dinner
Day 3: Balmoral Castle or Blair Castle
The Royal Family first became interested in Balmoral in 1847 when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited Ardverikie on the edge of Loch Laggan in the west Highlands of Scotland. Whilst here it rained often and when they heard of the better weather at Balmoral they set out to acquire it, and many a happy time was spent there - presumably in all weather!
After Queen Victoria died in 1901, it passed to King Edward Vii and then to King George V, and finally to Queen Elizabeth II who still enjoys her summers here with the Royal Family.
If the Queen is not in residence, we will visit Balmoral, otherwise we will take a view from the gates, also spotting Crathie Church, home of many a Royal Wedding, before continuing to Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Duke and Earls of Atholl.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4: Scone Palace and Perth
The original home of the legendary Stone of Destiny, Scone Palace is spectacular and contains a superb collection of French furniture, delicate china and valuable treasures.
We then continue to Perth on the River Tay.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

It is also the legendary setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth.
We then return to Pitlochry calling at Queen's View for a photo stop. This majestic view point was much loved by Queen Victoria - and with superb scenery you are sure to see why!
