Turkey & Tinsel on Loch Lomond

Christmas comes early on a Turkey & Tinsel break! Enjoy the festive season twice this year with mulled wine on arrival, Christmas dinner with a complimentary drink, and a festive cream tea one day. Get into the festive spirit in Tarbet on the banks of Loch Lomond, ideal for exploring the stunning wilderness that surrounds our hotel, and visit cosmopolitan Glasgow.

5 Day Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    Local departure by coach, then on to Tarbet near Loch Lomond and our hotel for four nights. We enjoy a tea, coffee or mulled wine with a festive treat on arrival to get us into the spirit of the season.

  • Day 2: Glasgow

    Today we visit Glasgow, famous for its cosmopolitan culture and buzzing atmosphere. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the city however you like, perhaps calling at Clydesdale Distillery for a tour, visiting the cathedral to marvel at the impressive gothic architecture, or visiting one of the many museums and galleries here. Of course there are also many shops, pubs, and restaurants as well as fantastic cultural venues to explore.

    At this time of year, wooden chalets pop up in St Enoch Square and George Square, home to traders from across the country selling the traditional festive foods and hand-crafted gifts.

    We return back to the hotel in time for our 'Christmas Dinner' complete with a complimentary glass of wine.

  • Day 3: Day at leisure or Trossachs National Park

    Relax in Tarbet or join our optional excursion for a scenic drive through the stunning Trossachs National Park. Loch Lomond is the biggest lake or loch in the whole of Britain, and we explore the breath-taking surrounding scenery of Scotland’s first National Park and the quaint towns that are dotted throughout.

  • Day 4: Inveraray

    This morning we visit Inveraray on the western shore of Loch Fyne. Established in 1745 by the 3rd Duke of Argyll, head of Clan Campbell, the town has a long history and many fine Georgian buildings. There is a neoclassical church, and the Jail is now an award-winning museum that tells of the lives of prisoners throughout the centuries. Just outside of the town is Inveraray Castle which remains the family home of the Dukes of Argyll to this day and is set in extensive grounds. The town is also home to a Woolen Mill, selling many famous brands and Scottish produce such as knitwear, whisky and traditional food. We return to the hotel for a festive cream tea.

    Stay on the shores of legendary Loch Lomond in the village of Tarbet surrounded by forests and magnificent mountains. The former Bay Tarbet hotel is less than a five-minute walk from Tarbet Pier from where you can take a cruise over the loch to Rowardennan during which you can enjoy insurmountable views of Ben Lomond. Tarbet has a number of quaint tearooms which are a great place to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea while enjoying views over the loch. In the hotel’s restaurant, you can enjoy fabulous sights over the surrounding countryside while eating tasty breakfast and evening meals daily. Relax in the bar during the evening to take in the views over the loch from some of the hotel’s rooms.
